The research group Process Machines (VM) deals with engineering processes for particle production or particle processing. In addition to characterization methods and measurement techniques (µCT, NMR, SAXS), simulation methods (DEM, CFD, Lattice Boltzmann, SPH, flowsheet simulation, model predictive control) are used to map digital process chains and to design new machines and apparatus with the focus on improving higher-level goals such as raw material and energy efficiency in use.
Main tasks in PREDICTOR
Implementation of control concepts into the simulation method for the development and validation under industrial conditions.
Prof. Hermann Nirschl
“PREDICTOR offers us the opportunity to develop advanced methods for the simulation and control of flow batteries. This will lay the foundation for a faster development of environmental friendly batteries.”
